Regular Season Round 28: Gansos - Huracanes 92-93

Fourteenth-ranked Gansos (5-24) gave a tough game to ninth ranked Huracanes (15-12). The visitors from Tampico managed to secure only one-point victory 93-92. However their fans expected much easier game. Gansos were ahead by 11 points after three quarters before a 27-15 charge of Huracanes, which allowed them to win the game. 27 personal fouls committed by Gansos helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a very good performance for the former international center Rodrigo Zamora (206-86, college: Montana St.) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 9 rebounds. The former international point guard Omar Quintero (183-81, college: S.Nazarene) contributed with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Five Huracanes players scored in double figures. American guard Shannon Shorter (193-89, college: N.Texas) replied with 35 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Alejandro Zarco (205-85) added 25 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Gansos. Gansos' coach Luis Andres Garcia tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Huracanes moved-up to seventh place. Newly promoted Gansos dropped to the fifteenth position with 24 games lost. Huracanes' next round opponent will be higher ranked Pioneros (#6) in Cancun and it may be quite challenging game. Gansos will play on the road against Panteras (#5) in Aguascalientes.
