There was a small surprise in Guelph, ON where sixth ranked Gryphons (2-5) defeated 4th ranked Voyageurs (5-3) 88-78 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Gryphons. Voyageurs was better in fourth quarter 22-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Gryphons especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 61.1 percentage. Voyageurs were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Zachary Angus (185) scored 32 points and 6 rebounds (perfect from downtown making all five shots) to lead the charge for the winners and guard Charles Amponsah (185) chipped in 16 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) during the contest. Guard Manny Pasquale (183) responded with 31 points and Nelson Yengue scored 12 points. Gryphons moved-up to third place, which they share with 5 other teams. Loser Voyageurs dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. Gryphons will face Mustangs (#7) in London, ON in the next round. Voyageurs will play at home against the league's second-placed Ravens in Ottawa, ON.
