Regular Season Round 7: TSU Tbilisi - Armia 65-94
Date: December 1, 2012
Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Tbilisi: Armia (#4) and TSU (#7). TSU was crushed at home by 29 points 65-94 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The game was mostly controlled by Armia. TSU was better in second period 23-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to TSU's 28. Armia forced 19 TSU turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by TSU's players. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Zviad Babiashvili (200-78) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. International guard Lasha Parghalava (191-87, college: Montana St. - Billin) contributed with 11 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Center Davit Khizanishvili (202-87) answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and Serzhi Aselaini added 9 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for TSU. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion (5-1) moved-up to third place, which they share with Olimpi. TSU at the other side keeps the seventh position with five games lost. They share it with Batumi. Armia will play against league's second-placed Energy Invest in Rustavi in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. TSU's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Samedicino-Academia.
