Regular Season Round 9: Tychy - Wschowa 64-56

There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Wschowa (0-8) was defeated on the road by third ranked Tychy (6-2) 64-56 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 64-56. Tychy dominated on the defensive end, holding Wschowa to just 5 points in second quarter. They outrebounded Wschowa 44-29 including 16 on the offensive glass. Wschowa was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Power forward Lukasz Bodych (204-90, agency: Promotex) stepped up and scored 9 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and swingman Grzegorz Remin (192-82) chipped in 8 points and 8 rebounds. The best for the losing side was forward Adam Chodkiewicz (200-90) with 19 points and 7 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and forward Pawel Jaworski (200-86) scored 9 points and 11 rebounds. Wschowa's coach let to play ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Tychy. They moved-up to second place in Group B, which they share with GTK Gliwice and AZS AWF K-ce. Wschowa lost their eighth game in a row. Wschowa at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with eight games lost. Tychy will face WKK Wroclaw (#5) on the road in the next round. Wschowa will play against GTK Gliwice (#3) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
