Regular Season Round 11: Cognac - Monaco 85-77

Very expected game when 11th ranked Monaco (3-5) was defeated on the road by third ranked Cognac (8-2) 85-77 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 25-18. But Monaco won second period 21-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Cognac won last quarter 26-19. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was American center Ian Caskill (207-81, college: JMU) who scored 18 points and 9 rebounds. Serbian forward Dejan Sencanski (198-84, college: Abil.Christian) chipped in 22 points. Guard guard Anthony Christophe (190-83) (190-83) produced 12 points and 8 assists and guard guard Anthony Christophe (190-83) (190-83) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Monaco's coach Jean-Michel Senegal rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Cognac moved-up to second place, which they share with Souffel. Monaco lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the eleventh position with five games lost. Cognac will meet Blois (#6) on the road in the next round. Monaco will play against Saint Chamond (#15) and hope to secure a win.
