Regular Season Round 9: Strasbourg - Nancy 72-66
Date: December 1, 2012
Very expected game when 11th ranked Sluc Nancy (3-6) was defeated on the road by seventh ranked Strasbourg IG (5-4) 72-66 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 8 points after three quarters before their 26-12 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Strasbourg IG outrebounded Sluc Nancy 46-31 including a 20-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American guard Gerald Fitch (191-82, college: Kentucky, agency: Pro One Sports) who scored 27 points and 9 rebounds. The former international center Alexis Ajinca (215-88, agency: Priority Sports) chipped in 17 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Marcellus Sommerville (200-82, college: Bradley) who recorded 17 points and naturalized Ivorian point guard Souleyman Diabate (183-87, agency: Beo Basket) added 14 points respectively. Strasbourg IG moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Sluc Nancy dropped to the thirteenth position with six games lost. Strasbourg IG will face Cholet (#5) on the road in the next round. Sluc Nancy will play against Limoges CSP Elite (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
