There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Real Celta Vigo (3-4) smashed at home 6th ranked Oviedo (3-4) 63-36 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 13-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 63-36. Real Celta Vigo dominated on the defensive end, holding Oviedo to just 2 points in second quarter and to 11 points in second half. Real Celta Vigo held Oviedo to an opponent 22.8 percent shooting from the field compared to 48.2 percent accuracy of the winners. Real Celta Vigo forced 22 Oviedo turnovers and had a 25-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. Senegalese forward Sabelle Diata (186, college: Northeastern JC) fired 12 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Guard Noelia Oliva (175-88) chipped in 9 points and 4 assists. Lara Fernandez (-87) produced 9 points and 7 rebounds and Sara Fernandez Alvarez (-87) added 7 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
