Regular Season Round 10: Marghera - Valmadrera 71-52

Not a big story in a game in Venezia where 11th ranked Valmadrera (3-7) was rolled over by third ranked Marghera (8-2) 71-52 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Marghera. Valmadrera was better in fourth quarter 19-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 18-of-19 free shots (94.7 percent) during the game. Guard Marta Savelli (175-82) scored 19 points to lead the charge for the winners and guard Greta Brunelli (176-90) chipped in 14 points during the contest. At the losing side Polish-French center Karolina Piotrkiewicz (190-84, college: Liberty, agency: LBM Management) responded with 14 points and 6 rebounds and forward Claudia Giunzioni (175-89) scored 10 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Marghera have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain third position in North with 8-2 record having just two points less than leader Ragusa. Newly promoted Valmadrera keeps the eleventh place with seven games lost. Marghera will face Milano (#4) on the road in the next round. Valmadrera will play against Alghero (#8).
