Regular Season Round 9: Coruna - Breogan 69-71

The biggest surprise of round 9 in LEB Gold was guest Leche Rio Breogan's (6-3) road victory over Leyma Basquet (#6) 71-69 on Saturday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Leyma Basquet won fourth quarter 26-23. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Leche Rio Breogan made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American guard Anthony Winchester (193-83, college: W.Kentucky) who scored 15 points. Center Manuel Gomez (203-78) chipped in 15 points. At the other side the best for losing team was Ivorian-American forward Jonathan Kale (203-85, college: Providence) who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds and guard Xavier Lopez (191-83, college: Point Loma) added 11 points respectively. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Leche Rio Breogan have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Lucentum and Palencia. Leyma Basquet lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the sixth position with four games lost. They share it with FCB Regal II and Clavijo. Leche Rio Breogan is looking forward to face Planasa NV (#10) in Pamplona in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Leyma Basquet will play on the road against Meridiano Alicante (#3) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
