Very predictable result when second ranked Ottawa (5-3) smashed on the road bottom-ranked Waterloo (0-7) 85-36 on Saturday. The game without a history. Ottawa led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Waterloo to just 7 points in third quarter. Ottawa dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Waterloo's 22. Ottawa forced 33 Waterloo turnovers and outrebounded them 40-26 including a 32-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Forward Maddie Stephen (186) had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Catherine Traer chipped in 10 points during the contest. Swedish guard Erika Persson (178-88) responded with 10 points and point guard Laura Burnett (175) scored 1 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ottawa have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 5-3 record having just one points less than leader Windsor. Waterloo at the other side still closes the standings with seven games lost. Ottawa will face York (#7) in Toronto in the next round where they are favorite. Waterloo will play at home against Thunderwolves in Thunder Bay and hopes to get finally their first victory.
