Regular Season Round 8: Lucca - Faenza 72-53

Date: December 2, 2012
There was no surprise when 9th ranked CA Romagna (2-6) was crushed on the road by second ranked Lucca (6-1) 72-53 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 72-53. Lucca forced 28 CA Romagna turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of Portuguese forward Mery Andrade (181-75, college: ODU) who helped to win the game recording 8 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals and American forward Devereaux Peters (187-89, college: Notre Dame, agency: LBM Management) who added 14 points and 4 steals during the contest. Lucca's coach Mirco Diamanti allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The former international center Kathrin Ress (196-85, college: Boston Coll.) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and the former international forward Lavinia Santucci (186-85) scored 9 points. Lucca have an impressive six-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Familia Schio. CA Romagna at the other side keeps the ninth place with six games lost. Lucca will meet Pall.Pozzuoli (#8) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. CA Romagna will play against Cagliari CUS and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
