Regular Season Round 9: Panasonic T. - Hokkaido L. 77-89

The game between third ranked Panasonic Trians (11-7) and eighth ranked Hokkaido L. (2-16) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. Panasonic Trians were defeated by Hokkaido L. in Osaka 89-77. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Panasonic Trians. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 51-38 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Hokkaido L. forced 19 Panasonic Trians turnovers. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Takehiko Orimo (190-70) who scored 21 points and 5 rebounds. German power forward Tilo Klette (206-77) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Jameel Watkins (211-77, college: Georgetown) who recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 blocks and international guard Kenta Hirose (193-85) added 16 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Five Hokkaido L. and four Panasonic Trians players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hokkaido L. maintains eighth place with 2-16 record. Panasonic Trians at the other side keep the third position with seven games lost. Hokkaido L. are looking forward to face higher ranked Tochigi Brex (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Panasonic Trians will play against the league's leader Toyota Alvark (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
