Bottom-ranked Upea CdO managed to get a second victory on Sunday night. This time newly promoted Upea CdO outleveled fourth-ranked C.de Latte BRE in Capo d'Orlando 97-72. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 25-point difference suggests that Upea CdO is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of C.de Latte BRE. The game was mostly controlled by Upea CdO. C.de Latte BRE managed to win second period 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Upea CdO dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to C.de Latte BRE's 40. Upea CdO forced 20 C.de Latte BRE turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by C.de Latte BRE's players. American swingman Alex Young (198-89, college: IUPUI) stepped up and scored 28 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import point guard Talor Battle (183-88, college: Penn St.) chipped in 20 points and 11 assists. Four Upea CdO players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American swingman J.R. Giddens (196-85, college: N.Mexico) with 16 points and 8 rebounds and swingman Federico Loschi (198-90) scored 13 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Upea CdO (2-7) moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Aget Service IM. Loser C.de Latte BRE dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. They share it with Pall.Trento. Upea CdO will meet higher ranked LeGamberi Foods Forlì (#10) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. C.de Latte BRE will play against Aget Service IM (#13) in Imola and hope to secure a win.
