Regular Season Round 8: Ikaros - Kolossos 86-66

Rather predictable result when sixth ranked Ikaros (5-3) rolled over 9th ranked Kolossos (3-5) in Kalitheas 86-66 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 86-66. Croatian guard Zoran Vrkic (200-87) orchestrated the victory by scoring 15 points and 9 rebounds. Senegalese forward Mouhammad Faye (208-85, college: SMU) contributed with 13 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Ikaros players scored in double figures. Ikaros' coach Dimitris Priftis used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American center LaRon Dendy (205-88, college: Middle Tenn.St., agency: David Lee services) replied with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard Marcus Hatten (186-80, college: St.John's) added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Kolossos. Ikaros have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with AGOR. Kolossos lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with five games lost. Ikaros will face Aris (#11) in Thessaloniki in the next round where they are favorite. Kolossos will play at home against KAOD in Dramas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
