Regular Season Round 8: Hapoel Eilat - Netanya 68-65

The most exciting game of round 8 in the Winner League took place in Eilat. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of one of their biggest challengers GreenTops Netanya (5-3) to fourth ranked Hapoel Eilat (5-2) 68-65 in the game for the third place. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But GreenTops Netanya won third quarter 19-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Hapoel Eilat won last quarter 11-10. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Eli Holman (208-89, college: Detroit Mercy) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and the former international point guard Afik Nissim (186-81) who added 10 points and 9 assists during the contest. Four Hapoel Eilat players scored in double figures. Hapoel Eilat's coach Oded Katash used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American swingman Deron Washington (201-85, college: Virginia Tech) responded with 9 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and his fellow American import power forward Marco Killingsworth (203-82, college: Indiana, agency: Avi Zilberman) scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. Hapoel Eilat moved-up to third place. GreenTops Netanya lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. Hapoel Eilat are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Maccabi Ashdod (#12) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. GreenTops Netanya will play against the league's leader Maccabi T-A (#1) in Tel-Aviv and is hoping to win this game.
