Very important is a road loss of third ranked Nitra (8-5) against fourth ranked Nova Ves (8-5) on Wednesday night. Visiting Nitra was defeated by Nova Ves in Nova Ves 89-75. The game was mostly controlled by Nova Ves. Nitra managed to win second period 25-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Nova Ves forced 24 Nitra turnovers. American point guard Maurice Acker (178-87, college: Marquette) notched a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 assists to lead the effort and international forward Stanislav Baldovsky (192-89) supported him with 18 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Nova Ves players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 28 points and 11 rebounds (on 13-of-15 shooting from the field) by the former international center Branislav Tomek (205-83) did not help to save the game for Nitra. Slovenian point guard Rene Zvan (182-87) added 8 points and 8 assists for the guests. Nova Ves moved-up to third place, which they share with defeated Nitra. Nova Ves will meet SKP Banska Bystrica (#8) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Nitra will play against the league's second-placed Levice (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
