Regular Season Round 29: Abejas - Toros 83-89

Very predictable result in Guanajuato where third ranked Toros (22-7) defeated 9th ranked Abejas (15-14) 89-83. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Abejas won third quarter 23-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. 24 personal fouls committed by Abejas helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American swingman Rene Rougeau (198-86, college: UNLV, agency: ProSportsCareers) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 5 rebounds. American-Nigerian forward Ike Ofoegbu (205-85, college: SMU) contributed with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American-Jamaican forward McHugh Mattis (198-84, college: S.Florida) answered with 28 points and 9 rebounds and American forward Steffphon Pettigrew (195-89, college: W.Kentucky) added 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Abejas. Five Toros and four Abejas players scored in double figures. Toros have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 22-7 record having just three points less than leader Halc.Xalapa, which they share with Halc.Rojos. Abejas at the other side keep the ninth position with 14 games lost. Toros' next round opponent will be Lechugueros (#12) in Leon and are hoping to win another game. Abejas will play at home against Fuerza Regia in Monterrey and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
