Regular Season Round 10: Toshiba BT - Aishin SH 81-88

An interesting game for Aishin Sea Horses (17-3) which played road game in Kanagawa against 4th ranked Toshiba Thunders (10-10). Second ranked Aishin Sea Horses managed to get a 7-point victory 88-81. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Toshiba Thunders. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-14. But Toshiba Thunders won second period 17-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The former international power forward J.R. Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) fired a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 6 assists (on 14-of-18 shooting from the field) for the winners. International swingman Takatoshi Furukawa (190-87) chipped in 30 points. American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) produced a double-double by scoring 31 points and 18 rebounds and point guard Ryusei Shinoyama (178-88) added 11 points respectively for lost side. Four Toshiba Thunders players scored in double figures. Toshiba Thunders' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Aishin Sea Horses have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 17-3 record behind leader Toyota Alvark. Toshiba Thunders at the other side keep the fourth place with ten games lost. Aishin Sea Horses' next round opponent will be league's leader Toyota Alvark in Fuchu and it will be for sure the game of the week. Toshiba Thunders will play on the road against Panasonic Trians in Osaka and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
