Regular Season Round 9: Tarvas - Rapla 94-84

Date: December 7, 2012
There was no surprise when 5th ranked Rapla (5-6) was defeated on the road by second ranked BC Rakvere (11-4) 94-84 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by BC Rakvere. Rapla managed to win second period 27-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. BC Rakvere dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Rapla's 28. Latvian swingman Juris Umbrasko (197-79) stepped up and scored 20 points and 6 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) for the winners and Latvian forward Maris Laksa (205-81, college: Providence) chipped in 22 points. The best for the losing side was forward Indrek Kajupank (200-88) with 22 points and 5 rebounds and guard Martin Paasoja (190-93) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Rapla's coach Indrek Ruut rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for BC Rakvere. They maintain second place with 11-4 record having just -4 points less than leader TU/Rock. Rapla lost their third game in a row. They keep the fifth position with six games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
