Regular Season Round 13: Nantes - Bourg 66-69

A very interesting game took place in Nantes. It ended with only three-point home defeat of 14th ranked Nantes (5-8) to eleventh ranked JL Bourg (6-7) 69-66 on Friday evening. It looked good early as Nantes took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then JL Bourg had a 20-15 second period charge getting the lead and Nantes was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 66-69. They outrebounded Nantes 35-23 including 28 on the defensive glass. Jerome Sanchez (197-90) fired a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Gambian forward Moses Sonko (197-83, college: Co.Carolina, agency: Two Points) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. Four JL Bourg players scored in double figures. American power forward James Mathis (200-84, college: Niagara, agency: Court Side) produced 22 points and 7 rebounds and Senegalese forward Elson Mendy (200-85) added 7 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Nantes' coach Guillaume Quintard tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. JL Bourg moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Nantes at the other side dropped to the thirteenth position with eight games lost. JL Bourg's next round opponent will be higher ranked ALM Evreux (#3) at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Nantes will play against Denain Voltaire (#15) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
