Regular Season Round 9: Thor Thorl - Keflavik 108-82

No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Thor Thorl (6-2) crushed 6th ranked Keflavik (5-4) in Thorlakshofn 108-82. It looked good early as Keflavik took an 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Thor Thorl had a 30-18 second period charge getting the lead and Keflavik was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 82-108. Thor Thorl made 22-of-27 charity shots (81.5 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Benjamin Smith (178-87, college: Jacksonville) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists. Guard Gudmundur Jonsson (191-84) chipped in 21 points and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Michael Craion (195-89, college: ORU, agency: Ronsport) who recorded a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds and the former international guard Magnus Gunnarsson (186-81) added 16 points respectively. Five Thor Thorl and four Keflavik players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Thor Thorl have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to third place. Keflavik at the other side keeps the sixth position with four games lost. Thor Thorl's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Snaefell in Stykkisholmur and it will be for sure the game of the week. Keflavik will play at home against Njardvik (#10) in Njardvik.
