Regular Season Round 9: Tln Kalev - Hito/Johvi 89-72

The game between closely ranked teams ended with eighth ranked Tln Kalev's (3-9) home victory over bottom-ranked Hito/Johvi (1-10) 89-72 on Friday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Tln Kalev forced 21 Hito/Johvi turnovers. Nigerian-American forward Ike Okoye (206, college: Boise St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners and forward Janis Vahter (193-86) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds. Four Tln Kalev players scored in double figures. Tln Kalev's coach Kalle Klandorf used an eleven-player rotation saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was guard Siim Laur (189-87) with 21 points and 9 rebounds and power forward Edvard Trumm (192-83) scored 17 points and 8 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots). Tln Kalev maintains eighth place with 3-9 record. Hito/Johvi lost their tenth game in a row. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with ten games lost. Tln Kalev will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Hito/Johvi will play against KK Parnu (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
