Rather expected game when 7th ranked Logan Thunder (4-8) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Townsville Fire (6-6) 85-72. It looked good early as Logan Thunder took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Townsville Fire had a 17-13 second period charge getting the lead and Logan Thunder was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 72-85. Townsville Fire dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Logan Thunder's 28. It was a very good performance for American forward Kayla Standish (187-89, college: Gonzaga, agency: LBM Management) who helped to win the game recording 12 points and 8 rebounds. New Zealand guard Micaela Cocks (174-86, college: Oregon) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Townsville Fire's coach Chris Lucas allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. New Zealand forward Natalie Taylor (182-84, college: SE Missouri St.) replied with 18 points and American guard Laurie Koehn (173-82, college: Kansas St.) added 12 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Logan Thunder. Four Logan Thunder players scored in double figures. Townsville Fire maintains fifth position with 6-6 record. Logan Thunder at the other side keeps the seventh place with eight games lost. Townsville Fire will play against league's leader Bendigo Spirit at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
