Regular Season Round 19: HoNsU - PeKa 76-75

The most exciting game of round 19 in the SM-sarja took place in Jyvaskyla. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of much higher ranked Peli-Karhut (11-4) to seventh ranked HoNsU (8-6) 76-75 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Peli-Karhut. Peli-Karhut was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 5-point lead after three quarters before a 17-11 charge of HoNsU, which allowed them to win the game. HoNsU outrebounded Peli-Karhut 49-37 including 17 on the offensive glass. American guard Brandi Davis (183-83, college: Oregon) fired 24 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. International forward Minna Sten (189-87) chipped in 17 points and 9 rebounds. American swingman Korinne Campbell (182-88, college: W.Virginia) produced a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds and international guard Linda-Lotta Lehtoranta (175-91) added 19 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. HoNsU have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Huima. Peli-Karhut at the other side dropped to the third position with four games lost. HoNsU is looking forward to face higher ranked Honka (#4) in Espoo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Peli-Karhut will have a break next round.
