A very close game took place in Wulguru between Townsville Crocodiles and Melbourne Tigers. Eighth ranked Townsville Crocodiles (2-10) got a very close home victory over 7th ranked Melbourne Tigers (2-8). Townsville Crocodiles managed to escape with a 1-point win 85-84 on Saturday evening. The hosts trailed by 6 points after three quarters before their 25-18 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Townsville Crocodiles made 18-of-19 free shots (94.7 percent) during the game. The former international center Luke Nevill (218-86, college: Utah) scored 26 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American point guard Gary Ervin (183-83, college: Arkansas) chipped in 26 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side the former international guard Chris Goulding (192-88) responded with 25 points and 8 rebounds and American guard Jonny Flynn (183-89, college: Syracuse) scored 18 points and 8 assists. They keep the seventh place with eight games lost. Townsville Crocodiles will meet higher ranked Adelaide 36ers (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Melbourne Tigers will play against Cairns Taipans and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
