Regular Season Round 30: Huracanes - Soles 86-88

Seventh-ranked Huracanes (16-13) made lots of trouble for second ranked Soles (25-5) in Tampico on Saturday. The visitors from Mexicali managed to secure only two-point victory 88-86. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Huracanes. Huracanes trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 29-18 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 86-88 at the end of the game. Soles forced 19 Huracanes turnovers. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was guard Carl Elliott (193-83, college: G.Washington, agency: SportsTalent) who scored 21 points and 6 rebounds. Center Kentrell Gransberry (206-85, college: S.Florida) chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds. Soles' coach Ivan Deniz used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Marcus Morrison (198-84, college: Middle Tenn.St.) who recorded 40 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds and center Donald Little (211-78, college: Cincinnati) added 11 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Soles have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 25-5 record behind leader Halc.Xalapa. Huracanes at the other side dropped to the eighth place with 13 games lost. Soles are looking forward to face league's leader Halcones UV Xalapa on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Huracanes will play against Osos (#14) and are hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
