Regular Season Round 10: Toyota Alvark - Panasonic T. 100-74

An interesting game for Toyota Alvark (18-2) which hosted in Fuchu 3rd ranked Panasonic Trians (11-9). First ranked Toyota Alvark had an easy win 100-74. The game was mostly controlled by Toyota Alvark. Panasonic Trians managed to win fourth quarter 33-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Panasonic Trians 53-20 including a 23-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Forward Takayuki Kumagai (190-85) notched a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and American forward Jeff Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) supported him with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Even 25 points by international swingman Kosuke Kanamaru (193-89) did not help to save the game for Panasonic Trians. American power forward Jameel Watkins (211-77, college: Georgetown) added 11 points and 10 rebounds for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Toyota Alvark have an impressive nine-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 18-2 record. Panasonic Trians lost third consecutive game. They keep the third place with nine games lost. Toyota Alvark will meet league's second-placed Aishin Sea Horses in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Panasonic Trians will play against Toshiba Thunders in Kanagawa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
