Regular Season Round 9: Castello - Guadalajara 93-94

A very interesting game took place in Castellon. It ended with only one-point home defeat of 10th ranked Castello (2-6) to third ranked CB Guadalajara (6-2) 94-93 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Castello cut a 14-point halftime deficit to one at the end of the game. CB Guadalajara forced 19 Castello turnovers. The best player for the winners was center Jose Balmon (204-81) who had a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 rebounds. point guard Sergio Llorente (188-90) chipped in 16 points and 9 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Luis Parejo (196-89) who recorded 30 points and 4 assists (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) and center Victor Hidalgo (204-86) added 22 points and 8 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. CB Guadalajara keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Clinicas Rincon. Castello lost third consecutive game. Castello at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the tenth place with six games lost. CB Guadalajara's next round opponent will be league's leader Clinicas Rincon in Malaga and it will be for sure the game of the week. Castello will play on the road against Cafes Aitona (#9) in San Sebastian and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
