Regular Season Round 13: St Chamond - Blois 91-68

There was an upset when higher ranked Blois (7-4) was smashed on the road by fifteenth ranked Saint Chamond (4-8) 91-68 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Saint Chamond. Blois was better in third quarter 25-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 27-of-31 free shots (87.1 percent) during the game. Saint Chamond looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a very good performance for naturalized DR Congolese guard Jean-Paul Landu-Bongo (187-85) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 6 rebounds. Latvian swingman Ingus Bankevics (195-85, agency: Players Group) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Four Saint Chamond players scored in double figures. Saint Chamond's coach Alain Thinet felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Finnish forward Ville Kaunisto (205-82) answered with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 18 rebounds and guard Gary Staelens (189-84) added 10 points and 5 assists in the effort for Blois. Saint Chamond moved-up to fourteenth place. Loser Blois keeps the sixth position with four games lost. Saint Chamond will face higher ranked Angers BC 49 (#13) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
