No shocking result in a game in Zacatecas where tenth ranked Barreteros (13-17) defeated 15th ranked Gansos (5-26) 108-95 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Barreteros. Gansos managed to win second period 23-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 23-of-26 free shots (88.5 percent) during the game. Barreteros looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Gansos' players. American forward Jerome Habel (208-85, college: San Diego St.) had a double-double by scoring 26 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import guard Jason Horton (188-86, college: Missouri) chipped in 27 points and 11 assists during the contest. Horton is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Barreteros' coach Andres Contreras allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was American guard Shannon Shorter (193-89, college: N.Texas) with 30 points and 9 rebounds and Christopher Duran scored 16 points. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Barreteros maintains tenth position with 13-17 record. Gansos lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the fifteenth place with 26 games lost. Barreteros will meet higher ranked Fuerza Regia (#7) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
