Regular Season Round 13: Souffel - Monaco 79-76

Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Monaco (4-6) was edged by second ranked Souffelweyersheim (9-3) in Souffel. 79-76 on Saturday. However just three-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 30-20. But Monaco won second period 21-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Souffelweyersheim made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Souffelweyersheim outrebounded Monaco 43-29 including 28 on the defensive glass. It was a very good performance for forward Jerome Cazenobe (202-89) who helped to win the game recording 7 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Frederic Broliron (193-79) contributed with 17 points and 4 assists for the winners. Guard Anthony Christophe (190-83) answered with 16 points and 9 assists and Serbian-Bosnian center Nemanja Calasan (205-85, college: Purdue) added 13 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Monaco. Four Monaco players scored in double figures. Souffelweyersheim maintains second place with 9-3 record having just -1 point less than leader Orchy, which they share with Cognac and Quimper. Newly promoted Monaco keeps the tenth position with six games lost. Souffelweyersheim will face Blois (#6) on the road in the next round. Monaco will play against Rueil (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
