Regular Season Round 23: Chanson V-M - Fujitsu RW 70-73

The most shocking disappointment of round 23 was only three-point a home defeat of second-ranked Chanson V-M (16-5) to third ranked Fujitsu RW (17-4) 73-70 in the game for the second place. It ended the six-game winning streak of Chanson V-M. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Fujitsu RW made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Chanson V-M 32-21 including 23 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Fujitsu RW made 7 blocks. It was a great evening for international forward Moeko Nagaoka (180-93) who led her team to a victory scoring 22 points and 8 rebounds. International power forward Megumi Shinohara (184-91) helped adding 14 points and 6 rebounds. International swingman Saori Fujiyoshi (178-87) responded with 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and swingman Key Miho (176-85) scored 18 points and 6 assists. Fujitsu RW moved-up to second place. Chanson V-M at the other side dropped to the third position with five games lost. Fujitsu RW will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Chanson V-M will play again on the road against the league's second-placed Fujitsu RW in Kawasaki and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
