Regular Season Round 18: Toyama Grouses - Shinshu BW 85-80

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Shinshu BW (11-6) against fourth ranked Toyama Grouses (12-7) on Saturday night. Visiting Shinshu BW was defeated by Toyama Grouses in a tough game in Toyama 80-85. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Shinshu BW was ahead by 15 points after three quarters before a 34-16 charge of Toyama Grouses, which allowed them to win the game. They outrebounded Shinshu BW 42-28 including a 19-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga, agency: SDJ Sports) had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Puerto Rican power forward Angel Garcia (209-88, college: Memphis) chipped in 16 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Four Toyama Grouses players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American center Wayne Marshall (211-86, college: Temple) with 23 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and his fellow American import swingman D'Mario Curry (201-85, college: Lincoln Memorial) scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. Toyama Grouses moved-up to second place, which they share with Hamamatsu P. Shinshu BW at the other side dropped to the third position with six games lost. They share it with Shimane SM. Toyama Grouses will again play against Shinshu BW (#4) in Nagano in the next round. Shinshu BW will have a break next round.
