There was no surprise in Cordoba where 11th ranked Wuber-Est.Bahia (9-12) was defeated by seventh ranked Atenas (12-10) 93-89 on Sunday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Wuber-Est.Bahia was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Atenas made 25-of-33 free shots (75.8 percent) during the game. Strangely Wuber-Est.Bahia outrebounded Atenas 38-25 including 26 on the defensive glass. Wuber-Est.Bahia was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international guard Javier Bulfoni (192-76) fired 28 points for the winners. The former international swingman Matias Lescano (196-79) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws). International center Juan Manuel Torres (210-84) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds and American power forward Lee Nailon (205-75, college: TCU) added 23 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Atenas maintains seventh position with 12-10 record. Loser Wuber-Est.Bahia keeps the eleventh place with 12 games lost. Atenas will face higher ranked Penarol (#4) in Mar del Plata in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Wuber-Est.Bahia will play at home against Penarol (#4) in Mar del Plata.
