Regular Season Round 15: Gimle BBK - Baerum Basket 72-81

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Bergen where 4th placed Gimle BBK (7-10) was defeated by fifth ranked Baerum Basket (7-7) 81-72. It looked good early as Gimle BBK took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Baerum Basket had a 25-14 second period charge getting the lead and Gimle BBK was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 72-81. Strangely Gimle BBK outrebounded Baerum Basket 45-27 including 31 on the defensive glass. Gimle BBK was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for point guard Stian Mjos (182-89) who led his team to a victory with 31 points. American swingman Ryan Ferranti (195-86, college: Rollins) contributed with 18 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Baerum Basket players scored in double figures. American forward Delano Thomas (203-81, college: Shawnee St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists and guard Anders Stien (195-90) added 16 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Gimle BBK. Baerum Basket moved-up to third place. Gimle BBK lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the fifth position with ten games lost. Baerum Basket will play against bottom-ranked Ammerud Bskt (#7) in Oslo in the next round. Gimle BBK will have a break next round.
