Regular Season Round 24: Hitachi Cougars - Aishin AW 78-66

We should mention about the upset which took place in Hitachinaka, where higher ranked Aishin Wings (8-14) lost to eleventh ranked Hitachi Cougars (5-17) in a road game 66-78. Aishin Wings were tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Hitachi Cougars dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Aishin Wings' 40. They outrebounded Aishin Wings 45-33 including 35 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by Aiko Ishihara (178-92) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds and international forward Mami Yamada (176-88) supported her with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 20 points and 9 rebounds by power forward Shiyu Sato (178-87) did not help to save the game for Aishin Wings. Forward Yuka Maeda (173-84) added 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hitachi Cougars moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Ebara Vickies. Aishin Wings at the other side dropped to the eighth position with 14 games lost.
