Second Stage Round 10: Union Progr. - GECR Indalo 82-79

A very interesting game took place in Villa Angela. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 12th ranked GECR Indalo (9-14) to thirteenth ranked Union Progresista (8-14) 82-79 on Sunday evening. It looked good early as GECR Indalo took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Union Progresista had a 19-14 second period charge getting the lead and GECR Indalo was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 79-82. Union Progresista made 18-of-21 charity shots (85.7 percent) during the game. British-American forward Darren Phillip (201-78, college: Fairfield) notched a double-double by scoring 31 points and 21 rebounds to lead the effort and American forward Adrian Moss (203-81, college: Florida) supported him with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Even 29 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) by American guard David Jackson (196-82, college: Penn St.) did not help to save the game for GECR Indalo. Center Diego Romero (203-82, college: Florida St.) added 15 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Four GECR Indalo players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Union Progresista maintains thirteenth position with 8-14 record. GECR Indalo lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth place with 14 games lost. Union Progresista's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked La Union (#16) in Formosa.
