Regular Season Round 9: Hapoel T-A - Hapoel Holon 88-86

The most exciting game of round 9 in the Winner League took place in Tel-Aviv. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 8th ranked Hapoel Holon (3-6) to fifth ranked Hapoel Tel-Aviv (5-4) 88-86 on Sunday evening. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 32-22. But Hapoel Holon won third quarter 22-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hapoel Tel-Aviv dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Hapoel Holon's 42. The best player for the winners was American point guard Demontez Stitt (186-89, college: Clemson) who scored 20 points and 6 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). International Bar Timor (190-92, agency: Avi Zilberman) chipped in 16 points and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Jerome Dyson (191-87, college: Connecticut) who recorded 30 points and 5 assists and the other American import forward Tyler Smith (201-86, college: Tennessee) added 13 points and 13 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hapoel Tel-Aviv moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Hapoel J-M and Netanya. Hapoel Holon lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth position with six games lost. Hapoel Tel-Aviv is looking forward to face GreenTops Netanya (#5) at home in the next round. Hapoel Holon will play against Maccabi Rishon (#7) in Rishon Le-Zion and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
