The game between closely ranked teams ended with fifth ranked Hitachi Sunrockers' (10-10) road victory over 6th ranked Mitsubishi Dolphins (6-14) in Nagoya 74-57 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Hitachi Sunrockers. Mitsubishi Dolphins was better in second period 14-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hitachi Sunrockers made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. It was a very good performance for international power forward Joji Takeuchi (207-85, agency: N.E.T.) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 7 rebounds. American power forward Jamar Smith (206-80, college: Maryland) contributed with 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Hitachi Sunrockers players scored in double figures. Guard Jun Abe (177-86) replied with 11 points and 5 rebounds and Bahamas power forward Magnum Rolle (211-86, college: Louisiana Tech) added 8 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Mitsubishi Dolphins. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Hitachi Sunrockers moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Toshiba BT. Loser Mitsubishi Dolphins keep the sixth position with 14 games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers will face Tochigi Brex (#7) at home in the next round. Mitsubishi Dolphins will play against Hokkaido L. in Saporro and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
