Regular Season Round 9: Elizur Ashkelon - Maccabi Rishon 92-80

We should mention about the upset which took place in Ashkelon, where higher ranked Maccabi Rishon (4-4) lost to tenth ranked Ironi Ashkelon (3-5) in a road game 80-92 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 7 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 92-80. Ironi Ashkelon made 23-of-26 free shots (88.5 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American swingman Julien Mills (193-85, college: Ball St.) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). His fellow American import forward Marcus Dove (206-85, college: Oklahoma St.) chipped in 19 points and 7 rebounds. Ironi Ashkelon's coach Adi Azulay allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Jamaican-American power forward Adrian Uter (200-84, college: Hofstra, agency: Gross Zeev ISA) who recorded 16 points and 8 rebounds and American point guard Willie Warren (193-89, college: Oklahoma, agency: Interperformances) added 18 points respectively. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Ironi Ashkelon. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Bnei Hasharon. Loser Maccabi Rishon dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. Ironi Ashkelon will face Bnei Hasharon (#8) in Hod Hasharon in the next round.
