Regular Season Round 9: Hapoel J-M - Maccabi Haifa 103-92

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Maccabi Haifa (6-3) against seventh ranked Hapoel J-M (5-4) on Sunday night. Visiting Maccabi Haifa was defeated by Hapoel J-M in Jerusalem 103-92. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Maccabi Haifa. Maccabi Haifa was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Hapoel J-M made 19-of-24 charity shots (79.2 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was a good game for American Josh Duncan (203-86) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). His fellow American import Courtney Fells (198-86, college: N.Carolina St.) contributed with 22 points and 4 steals for the winners. International point guard Gal Mekel (190-88, college: Wichita St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 assists and American-Mexican point guard Paul Stoll (180-85) added 27 points and 4 assists in the effort for Maccabi Haifa. Five Hapoel J-M and four Maccabi Haifa players scored in double figures. Hapoel J-M moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Hapoel T-A and Netanya. Maccabi Haifa at the other side dropped to the third position with three games lost. Hapoel J-M will play against Galil Gilboa (#11) in Rosh Pina in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Maccabi Haifa will play at home against Ironi Ashkelon (#9) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
