No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Castors Braine (5-6) defeated on the road bottom-ranked Houthalen (1-10) 79-70 on Sunday. Castors Braine forced 26 Houthalen turnovers. It was a great evening for American guard Mia Fisher (175-82, college: UCSB) who led her team to a victory scoring 19 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. New Caledonian forward Soana Lucet (186-87, college: Arizona) helped adding 15 points and 7 rebounds. Four Castors Braine players scored in double figures. Castors Braine's coach Jean Luc Cornia used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international forward Annelies Blommaers (176-83) responded with 14 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and the former international point guard Marjorie Carpreaux (165-87, agency: LBM Management) scored 14 points and 4 assists. Castors Braine moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Spirou Monceau. Houthalen lost their seventh game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with ten games lost. Castors Braine will meet higher ranked Sint Kateline Waver (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Houthalen will play against Basket Groot (#6) in Willebroek.
