The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Chalon/Saor (7-3) at the home court on Monday night. Hosts were defeated by sixteenth ranked Chorale de Roanne (4-6) 65-56. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Chalon/Saor. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 65-56. Worth to mention a great performance of American Matt Howard (203-89, college: Butler) who helped to win the game recording 8 points and 8 rebounds. The former international guard Yohann Sangare (193-83) contributed with 9 points and 5 assists for the winners. International forward Ilian Evtimov (201-83, college: N.Carolina St., agency: Interperformances) replied with 20 points and 5 rebounds and American forward Shelden Williams (206-83, college: Duke) added 13 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks in the effort for Chalon/Saor. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Chorale de Roanne moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 7 other teams. Defending champion Chalon/Saor still keeps top position with three games lost. They share it with Le Mans. Chorale de Roanne is looking forward to face higher ranked ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (#3) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Chalon/Saor will play against JSF Nanterre and is hoping to win this game.
