Regular Season Round 14: Jiangsu - Yunnan 96-77

Another exciting game was played in Yixing between eighth ranked Jiangsu Phoenix and 5th ranked Qujing Yunnan where host Jiangsu Phoenix (8-6) rolled over Qujing Yunnan (7-7) with 19-point difference 96-77. The game was mostly controlled by Jiangsu Phoenix. Qujing Yunnan was better in fourth quarter 33-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Jiangsu Phoenix dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Qujing Yunnan's 34. They outrebounded Qujing Yunnan 41-24 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Jiangsu Phoenix players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. American center Krystal Thomas (195-89, college: Duke) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 16 rebounds. International point guard Xiaojia Chen (177-88) contributed with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. American center Lindsay Taylor (203-81, college: UCSB) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds and forward Betty Cao (180-87) added 26 points in the effort for Qujing Yunnan. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Jiangsu Phoenix have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Liaoning. Qujing Yunnan at the other side dropped to the sixth position with seven games lost. They share it with Beijing and Shanghai. Jiangsu Phoenix will play against Liaoning Hengye (#5) in Anshan in the next round. Qujing Yunnan will play on the road against Shanghai Octopus and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
