No shocking result in a game in Jiyuan where second ranked Zhejiang Far East (10-4) defeated 10th ranked Henan Elephants (4-10) 106-96. They outrebounded Henan Elephants 41-30 including 18 on the offensive glass. 30 personal fouls committed by Henan Elephants helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Australian center Elizabeth Cambage (203-91) notched a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international swingman Lan Bian (185-86) supported her with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Even a double-double of 30 points and 16 rebounds by American power forward Jayne Appel (193-88, college: Stanford) did not help to save the game for Henan Elephants. Power forward Jing Wang (188-84) added 28 points and 4 assists (was perfect 13-for-13 from the free throw line !!!) for the hosts. Five Zhejiang Far East and four Henan Elephants players scored in double figures. Zhejiang Far East have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 10-4 record behind leader Shanxi. Henan Elephants lost ninth consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh place with ten games lost. Zhejiang Far East's next round opponent will be Beijing Great Wall (#7) at home where they are favorite. Henan Elephants will play against Bayi Kylin (#9) in Yinzhou and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
