A very interesting game took place in Shanghai. It ended with only three-point home defeat of higher ranked Shanghai Octopus (7-7) to eleventh ranked Guangdong Dolphins (5-9) 81-78 on Tuesday evening. The guests were ahead by 1 point but lost the second period ending it with a 1-point deficit before their 23-19 run, which allowed them to win the game. Guangdong Dolphins outrebounded Shanghai Octopus 32-20 including 20 on the defensive glass. American Tamika Catchings (186-79, college: Tennessee) notched a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds to lead the effort and point guard Siyue Qiu (177-91) supported her with 15 points and 4 assists. Four Guangdong Dolphins players scored in double figures. Even 25 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) by point guard Xiufeng Shi (178-87) did not help to save the game for Shanghai Octopus. American swingman Camille Little (188-85, college: N.Carolina) added 18 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the hosts. Guangdong Dolphins moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Bayi. Shanghai Octopus at the other side keep the sixth position with seven games lost. Guangdong Dolphins' next round opponent will be league's leader Shanxi in Taiyuan and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
