Rather expected game in Borgarnes where 8th ranked Skallagrimur (3-6) was defeated by fifth ranked KR (6-3) 102-90 on Thursday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 102-90. KR outrebounded Skallagrimur 40-28 including a 28-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The former international guard Brynjar Bjornsson (191-88, college: Francis Marion) scored 35 points (!!!) and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Martin Hermannsson (190-94) chipped in 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side American forward Haminn Quaintance (201-85, college: Kent St., agency: Z.A.G. - Law Offices) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals and his fellow American import guard Carlos Medlock (183-87, college: E.Michigan) scored 22 points, 6 assists and 6 steals. Five KR and four Skallagrimur players scored in double figures. KR maintains fifth position with 6-3 record. Skallagrimur lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the ninth place with six games lost. KR's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Reykjavik KFI.
