The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Bulgarian Levski Sofia as it allowed them to take a leadership position in Group A. Levski Sofia smashed second-ranked FYR Macedonian Kumanovo 2009 at home 103-66. The game was mostly controlled by Levski Sofia. Kumanovo 2009 managed to win third quarter 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Levski Sofia dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Kumanovo 2009's 40. Levski Sofia forced 20 Kumanovo 2009 turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Kumanovo 2009's players. Worth to mention a great performance of Serbian point guard Marko Marinovic (183-83) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 4 assists and center Nikolay Varbanov (210-85, agency: Interperformances) who added 16 points during the contest. Serbian forward Dejan Mikic (201-86) responded with 13 points and 9 rebounds and guard Marjan Mladenovic (180-88) scored 13 points and 7 assists. Four Kumanovo 2009 players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Kumanovo 2009 at the other side dropped to the third place with three games lost. Kumanovo 2009 will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Levski Sofia will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Kumanovo 2009 at home.
