Important game to mention about took place in La Banda. Third ranked Olimpico de La Banda (16-9) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 7th ranked Atenas (13-11) 86-84 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Atenas. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-16. But Atenas won second period 21-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Atenas was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American center Sam Clancy (202-80, college: USC) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Cedric McGowan (200-85, college: Cincinnati, agency: Court Side) helped adding 10 points and 9 rebounds. The former international swingman Matias Lescano (196-79) responded with 21 points and 7 rebounds and international guard Alexis Elsener (193-88) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. Five Olimpico de La Banda and four Atenas players scored in double figures. Atenas' coach Alejandro Lotterio rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Olimpico de La Banda have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 16-9 record behind leader Regatas C. Atenas at the other side dropped to the sixth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Argentino and Quimsa. Olimpico de La Banda will again play against Atenas (#7) in Cordoba in the next round. Atenas will have a break next round.
