Not a big story in a game in Huelva where 10th ranked Conquero (2-7) was defeated by third ranked Argon Uni Girona (7-2) 83-74. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-13. But Conquero won second period 30-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Argon Uni Girona had a 24-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. American power forward Jacinta Monroe (193-88, college: Florida St.) notched a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and the other American import forward Allison Feaster-Strong (181-76, college: Harvard, agency: Josep and Nicolas) supported her with 11 points and 5 rebounds. Five Argon Uni Girona players scored in double figures. Even 24 points and 7 rebounds by Polish power forward Joanna Walich (183-81) did not help to save the game for Conquero. Dutch guard Tanya Broering (178-84) added 13 points and 4 assists for lost side. Argon Uni Girona have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Perfumerias. Newly promoted Conquero keeps the tenth position with seven games lost. Argon Uni Girona will play against Gran Canaria (#8) in Las Palmas in the next round where they are favorite. Conquero will play on the road against Cadi ICG S. in Seu D'urgell and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
